City residents seem to be excited about celebrating Valentine’s Day tomorrow. Various gift items, including heart-shaped cushions, balloons, colourful teddy bears and customised heart-shaped cakes, can be seen adorning shops in the city.

Couples are liking customised cakes, jars and cup cakes to express their love for the special ones. Bakers in the city are making sure that their clients are able to express their feelings through their artistic touch on bakery items. “We have been receiving orders for cakes. People are asking for heart-shaped cakes having customised love messages written on them,” said Shiva Grover, owner of Grover Bakers.

Sisters Mehak and Samridhi of Cakerz N Bakerz have come up with special jars and cupcake bouquets. A set of jars can be purchased for Rs 299. Mehak said, “These jars are selling like hot cakes. As Valentine’s Day is a festival of couples, these jars can satisfy one’s hunger as well as make it more special for them.”

Newly married couple Kawal and Prince said, “This Valentine’s Day is special for us as we are celebrating it first time after our marriage. We both have planned surprises for each other.”

“Not only cakes, but cards and customised gifts are also in demand. People are buying cards. This is the day when the sale of cards generally goes up. We also have cards worth Rs 1,500 and more,” said a local shopkeeper.
