The town planning wing of the Municipal Corporation postponed its demolition drive to Tuesday at IDH market as duty magistrate was not available to lead the MC team.

The MC had planned to demolish some portion of shops at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Market. Following the recent attack on Assistant Town Planner Jagdev Singh and his team on Monday, the MC had asked the district administration to provide a duty magistrate and police force.

Municipal Town Planner IPS Randhawa said, “We made the preparations for the demolition of illegal portions of some shops. The duty magistrate was not available so we postponed the drive. We urge the traders to remove their illegal structures on their own otherwise the MC will demolish the illegal amendments defying the planned norms."

According to information, a shopkeeper, who had complained about the shop number 21 at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Market, also defied the building by-laws. The MC will take action over the counter-complaint against the complainant.
