Amritsar, February 12

Irked over the traffic mess, the Focal Point Industries Welfare Association has sent a communiqué to Police Commissioner SS Srivastav to improve the situation. It gave several suggestions, including installation of speed limit display boards, removal of encroachment by traders, curbing haphazard parking and removal of garbage among others.

The letter states that encroachments and non-compliance of traffic rules have been exacerbating the problem. Anti-encroachment drive should be carried out at all important places, members of the association stated.

The police have installed a speed gun on the elevated road but non-installation of proper speed limit warning boards causes inconvenience to residents and tourists, they said. The association also demanded repair of dilapidated roads.
