KCET students shine in sports events

The fifth annual athletics meet was organised at Khalsa College of Engineering and Technology (KCET) here today. The event started with an impressive flag hoisting ceremony, lamp lighting, release of colourful balloons and march past by the students. More than 600 students competed for various track and field events, including race, shot put and high jump.

Ranjot Kaur, a student of fourth semester of B.Sc, Agriculture, was declared the best girl athlete. Shubham Sharma, a student of sixth semester of mechanical engineering, was the best athlete among boys. The tug of war was won by the department of computer science and engineering in girls’ category and students of department of civil engineering among boys. Girl students enthralled the audience with their bhangra performance.

Director Dr Majnu Bala underscored the importance of sports for development of overall personality of students. Dr Gurdial Singh, principal, Khalsa College of Management and Technology, and Prof JL Rambani, Prof Dr Manmohan Singh and other faculty members were also present.
