One killed in road accident

Tarn Taran: A person, identified as Jarmal Singh (30), a resident of Mari Kamoke, was killed in a road mishap Sunday evening. His car collided with a truck at Thathia Mahantan, 20 km from here. The deceased was driving his Verna car and going to Chohla Sahib. The truck driver, Bharat Singh Rathaur, has been arrested. OC

Concern over exam centres

A delegation of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) presented a memorandum to Deputy Commissioner Pardeep Kumar Sabharwal over allotment of exam centres to students at far away stations. They said that it would cause great inconvenience to students, especially girls. OC

Four held with intoxicants

Tarn Taran: The district police have arrested four persons with 780 habit forming tablets and 200 intoxicating capsules from different places. Shamsher Singh  Shamma, a resident of Kirtowal village, has been arrested with 300 tablets by the Patti police. The Khemkaran police caught Major Singh of Rattoke village with 300 tablets and 200 capsules. David Masih of Khemkaran was caught with 200 tablets. Meanwhile, the Sarhali police arrested Jagroop Singh of Sarhali village and recovered 180 habit forming tablets from him. All of them have been booked under Sections 22, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. 3 caught with stolen bike

Amritsar: The police on Monday arrested three persons for allegedly stealing vehicles. A stolen motorcycle was recovered from their possession. Those arrested have been identified as Neeraj Singh, alias Paudi, Gurwinder Singh, alias Khesi, and Pritpal Singh, all residents of Pandori Waraich village located on the Majitha road. A case under Sections 379, 411 and 34 of the IPC. According to the police, they were arrested at a checkpoint. They could not produce any document regarding the bike and later confessed to have stolen the same. More recoveries are likely to be made, the police added. TNS
