Amritsar, June 14

Members of the Democratic Kisan Sabha staged a protest against irrigation officials, demanding adequate canal water supply, here on Friday. Farmers, led by Baldev Singh Saidpur and Mukhtiar Singh Mallaha, demanded from irrigation superintendent curb on “theft” of water and maintenance of Upper Bari canals and minor canals.

According to the protesters, the state government had not been realising adequate water in canals. The government should provide canal water to every farmer by improving its services, they added.
