Suicide attempt victim fights for life

Slight improvement reported: Police

Jasmine, who attempted suicide in her hostel room at Government Meritorious School, is fighting for her life at a private hospital. She has been put on ventilator. According to the police, doctors said there was a slight improvement in her condition.

She had attempted suicide by hanging herself in her hostel room here yesterday. The victim, a resident of Johal village in Jalandhar, is a Class XII medical student.

She had gone to attend extra classes but soon returned on the pretext of bringing her register that she had forgotten in her room. Later, a student, who had gone for cycling, while returning saw her hanging from the ceiling fan of her hostel room. She raised the alarm, following which the noose around her neck was untied and she was rushed to a private hospital.

The police said her condition was still critical. The doctors said she would be kept under observation from 48-72 hours before taking further decision.
