A pedestrian was crushed to death by an unidentified truck in Daburji in the wee hours on Wednesday. Identified as Balwinder Singh of Shubham Enclave, Daburji, he was going to a gurdwara nearby when the mishap took place.

Bikramjit Singh, nephew of deceased, stated to the Sultanwind police, “At about 4.30 am, I along with him was heading towards a gurudwara. Suddenly, a speeding four-wheeler came from Jalandhar side and hit him. Balwinder Singh sustained several critical injuries and died on the spot. The driver of the vehicle sped away after the mishap.”

Due to low visibility, Bikramjit couldn’t read the registration number, said Bikramjit Singh.

A case under Sections 279 and 304-A of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against the truck driver.
