2 more AC buses for Chandigarh, Amritsar

Bathinda, May 15

Bringing respite to passengers in hot and humid weather, the Pepsu Road Transport Corporation has added two air-conditioned buses to its fleet at the Bathinda depot.

These buses have started plying on the Bathinda-Chandigarh and Bathinda-Amritsar routes.

Besides, the PRTC has not raised any fare to travel in these buses. Commuters will have to pay the same fare as the HVAC buses charge.

City residents hailed the efforts of the PRTC authorities. Lakhwinder Singh, a city resident, said, “Owing to the soaring mercury in the region, the AC buses are the need of the hour. What’s better than travelling in AC buses on moderate fare? I am very delightful with the initiative of the PRTC.”

He said earlier poor people were not able to travel in AC buses due to much higher fares of the private Volvo buses, but now all classes’ people can avail this facility of travelling in AC buses.

Kundan Kumar, another city resident, said, “The PRTC has to add more AC buses to provide comfortable journey to its passengers. Besides, it will also boost the revenue.”

Parveen Kumar, general manager, PRTC, confirmed that they have started plying two AC buses. Besides, he also gave an assurance that very soon the Bathinda depot will get five more AC buses.

He said since the AC buses had started plying on the Chandigarh and Amritsar routes from the Bathinda bus stand, their revenue has increased. — TNS
