The district team of artistic gymnastics also secured the first place in the under-25 state-level women games played from January 8 to 10. While Geetanjali won two gold medals and one bronze medal, Rubi won three silver medals and one bronze medal in artistic gymnastics. Bathinda’s Jaspreet Kaur won a gold medal in the 100 meters and 110 meters hurdle race. Gurdeep Kaur won bronze medal in 100 meter race. Veerpal Kaur also won gold in 400 meters race. As many as 15 players from Bathinda had participated in the athletics events. In the 4x100 relay race, Bathinda won a gold medal, Patiala girls won silver and Ludhiana a bronze medal. In gymnastics, Amritsar won gold medal, Patiala won silver medal and SAS Nagar won bronze medal. In the final of football, Ludhiana defeated hosts Sangrur with 1-0 goal. In boxing, Sangrur won overall trophy by securing highest 16 points. District Sports Officer Karam Singh congratulated medal winners as well as participating players and credited the achievement to sheer hard and devotion of both coaches and athletes. — TNS
