Flunked Class XII exams, youth kills self

Bathinda, May 16

A 22-year-old youth ended his life by jumping in front of a passenger train passing through Nehiawala village.

The accused has been identified as Rajwinder Singh, a resident of the same village.

It is learnt that the reason behind the suicide was that the deceased had failed in Class XII exams last year and after which he discontinued his studies.

He had been under stress since then. The railway police have initiated proceedings under Section 174 of the CrPC and handed over the body to the family members after conducting post-mortem.

Divulging details about the incident, Government Railway Police (GRP) constable Gurpal Singh said Rajwinder Singh had taken Class XII exams last year and but he failed. He was under stress for the past one year, he added.

In another incident, an 18-year-old youth was crushed to death under a train. He lost balance and slipped while boarding the moving train at the Lehra Mohabbat railway station.

Investigating officer ASI Harbans Singh said the deceased had been identified as Manish Kumar (18), a resident of Rampura Phul.

The ASI said they had handed over the body to his family members after conducting post-mortem. — TNS
