Class IX girl raped, 2 held

Ambala, July 23

A Class IX student of a village at Barara in Ambala was allegedly raped by a youth of a Mullana village after befriending her, the police said here today. Karam Singh, alias Prince, alias Chhotu, of Dhanauri village in Mullana and Manjit Singh, alias Monu, of Sivanmajra village in Barara, both in their early twenties, were arrested in the case, the Barara SHO, Inspector Satish Kumar, told the Tribune.

The SHO said the 2005-born minor victim’s mother reported to the police that her daughter was a student of Class IX and befriended Chhotu, who used to come to their village on a tractor-trailer for earth filling work for the past couple of months.

“On the night of July 21, Monu took the victim along from her home and met Chhotu at a tubewell room, where she was raped,” the complainant revealed. The police registered a case of rape against both suspects and arrested them.

“Both suspects were arrested last evening and were produced before a local court today, which remanded them in 14-day judicial custody,” the SHO said. — TNS
