Two arrested for flouting cracker ban

Chandigarh, November 6

Two persons were arrested for bursting crackers at Mani Majra in violation of the DC’s orders today.

Amit Kumar (38), a resident of Pinjore, and Sunil Saini, a resident of Mani Majra, were arrested for bursting crackers in violation of the orders issued on August 31.

The police said head constable Ranjit Singh, along with a police party, was patrolling the Mani Majra area when he saw two persons bursting crackers near the Aara Wali street. The police apprehended both of them and registered a case against them under Section 188 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the IPC at the Mani Majra police station. The bursting of crackers is permitted in Chandigarh on November 7 between 8 pm and 10 pm. — TNS
