Woman booked on fraud charge

Kharar: The police booked a woman, Ruby, for fraud. She allegedly duped Parveen Kumar, a resident of Delhi, of Rs 18,200 on the pretext of arranging a work permit of Canada for him. Praveen told the police that he had seen an advertisement on a website in this regard and sent his resume on the address given in it. He paid Rs 18,200 as visa fee. He found the visa receipt fake. Snatcher arrested

Kharar: The police arrested a man for snatching a mobile. Accused Jatinder Singh was produced in a Kharar court on Friday, which sent him to two-day police custody. The accused snatched the mobile and escaped. The number of his motorcycle was noted down by the complainant. OC 

Office-bearers elected 

Mohali: Baljinder Singh Brar is the new president of the Punjab School Education Board Employees’ Union. He defeated Paramjit Singh Khangura by 259 votes. Rajinder Singh Saini defeated Gurcharan Singh Tarmala by 217 votes to grab the post of the senior vice-president. Other elected office-bearers are Prabdeep Singh Boparai (vice-president I), Bhim Chand (vice-president II), Vakil Singh Sidhu (junior vice-president), Sunil Arora (general secretary), Paramjit Singh Randhawa (secretary), Gurpreet Singh Kahlon (joint secretary), Raj Kumar Bhagat (finance secretary), Gurjit Singh (office secretary), Manoj Kumar Rana (organisation secretary) and Jasmit Singh (press secretary).
