Farmer duped of Rs 9 lakh for setting up polyhouse

Amritsar, June 10

While the Agriculture Department has been advocating and encouraging farmers to diversify crops, besides helping them in setting up poly houses in their fields. A farmer of Kathunangal village was duped by an alleged fraudster for setting up a polyhouse.

The complainant Dilbagh Singh alleged that the accused took Rs 9 lakh from him but did not set up the poly house even after the elapsing of over a year. The accused was identified as Vishal Bhalla, a resident of Kashmir Avenue. He alleged Bhalla was already arrested in Gurdaspur for similar charges and was currently on bail.

Dilbagh had lodged a complaint with the police in June last year. However, a case was registered on Sunday only after a probe by the investigation wing of the rural police. The police have now registered a case under Section 420 of the IPC against Bhalla.

The victim said that he came in contact with Vishal through his village resident who used to ferry his material. Bhalla lured him to set up the poly house and start floriculture or grow vegetables in the poly house which is very profitable. He said he gave Rs 9 lakh for setting up the same in 1000 yards. He said Bhalla even took him to a farmer in Jheetekalan village where he had installed a poly house.

He alleged after taking the money he did not install the poly house even after elapsing of months. Later he came to know that he was arrested in Gurdaspura for a fraud in the name of setting up poly house. Then he decided to lodge a complaint against him. In June 2018 he filed a complaint with the rural police and now a case has been registered.
