Workshop on polio held

Amritsar, June 11

The District Health Department organised a one-day training workshop in view of the upcoming three day polio immunisation drive starting June 16. The workshop was attended by employees working in urban and rural segments of the department.

Civil Surgeon Hardeep Singh Ghai said, “The country has been declared a polio free nation but as neighboring countries Pakistan and Afghanistan are still not polio free, as per WHO guidelines, the department is continuing with its immunisation programme.”

District Immunization Officer Dr Ramesh Pal Singh said they had set a target to immunise 1.27 lakh children under the age of five years during the drive. He said the teams had been constituted to administer polio drops to children. — TNS
