Around 15 unidentified persons stole 464 wheat sacks from a godown of Punjab Agro Corporation at Sandhwan village near Faridkot on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. The accused assaulted six watchmen and tied them with ropes in the godown. Later, they loaded the wheat sacks in a truck and fled.

On a complaint of Amrik Singh, an inspector in Punjab Agro, a case under Sections 457, 380 and 342 of the IPC has been registered against unidentified persons.

According to Amrik Singh, a huge quantity of wheat has been stored in the godown at Sandhwan. He added that on Thursday evening, seven persons, including an inspector, were on duty.

“At night, armed with weapons, around 15 persons entered the store and thrashed the employees on duty, leaving them injured. They also tied them with ropes and locked the employees in a room.

According to the complaint, the robbers entered the godown by scaling its boundary wall and they assaulted seven persons — six watchmen and an inspector.— TNS
