Gangster alleges third-degree torture

Bathinda, June 8

Gangster Karamjit Singh, an accused in the Ram Singh murder case, on Saturday was taken to the Civil Hospital after he complained of pain in the body.

Karamjit accused the CIA -1 staff of giving him third-degree torture during interrogation. Karamjit said besides internal injuries, he had sustained injuries on hand and head. He said after the completion of his production warrant’s period, he was sent back to the jail on June 6. The gangster said since then his health was getting deteriorated due to pain.

A CIA official said Karamjit  was not beaten up. SSP Dr Nanak Singh said, “The Kotwali police have received the medical legal report of Karamjit. After getting his statement recorded, further action will be initiated.”

Dr Gurmail Singh, who conducted medical tests of Karamjit, said there were some injuries and a fracture in the hand. — TNS
