Bathinda, June 14

Seeking action against the culprits in a suicide case, former SAD minister Sikander Singh Maluka led a protest in front of the Rampura police station on Friday.

Maluka said Ajaib Singh of Rampura recently took the extreme step as in-laws of his daughter were continuously harassing her for dowry. The former minister said the victim had spent a good amount of money on his daughter’s wedding, but despite that, her in-laws were demanding more. He alleged that the police was dilly-dallying in initiating action against those who were responsible for Ajaib Singh’s death.

He said he would take up the matter with the IGP and SSP, seeking swift action in the case.

The Rampura police said a case had already been registered in this regard and raids were on to nab the accused. A police official said an investigation into the case had been handed over to CIA-II and they were assisting it in the probe.
