26 borewells plugged in Kharar

After the tragic death of two-year-old Fatehveer who was trapped in a borewell for five days in Bhagwanpura village in Sangrur, the adminstration came into action and plugged about 26 borewells in the Kharar subdivision.

Kharar Sub Divisional Magistrate Vinod Kumar Bansal said information regarding borewells was sought from the tehsildar and Block Development Officers after which necessary steps were taken to plug the borewells.

He said till now, they did not have any information about any other borewell.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had sought a report from all Deputy Commissioners on open borewells in order to evade similar accidents.
