Chandigarh, June 10

Skipper Anshul Chaudhary scored a patient century as Mohali registered a 201-run win over Bathinda in the opening match of the Punjab Inter-District Cricket Tournament for DP Azad Trophy at the newly-built PCA Stadium in Mullanpur.

Opting to bat, Mohali rode on Chaudhary’s 123-ball 102 to score 290/5 in 50 overs.  

Needing to score 5.82 runs per over for victory, the visitors were bowled out for 89 runs in 24.2 overs. Sahil returned with figures of 4/23 for the hosts.

Chandigarh beat Patiala

Chandigarh opened their campaign with six-run win over Patiala. Batting fist, Chandigarh boys were all out for 177 runs in 49.4 overs. Ishan Goyal made a useful 62-ball 40, while Raj Angad Bawa added a sedate 35 to the total. 

Anurag Watts was the pick of the bowlers for Patiala, claiming 4/28. Reteshwar Singh took 3/39. 

Defending a modest total, Chandigarh bowlers struck in unison to bundle out Patiala for 171 runs in 46.3 overs. Bawa bagged 3/44, while Amit Shukla (2/22) and Arshnoor Pannu (2/39) took two wickets apiece. — TNS
