Ambala, June 8

The district police have arrested three persons and claimed to have recovered heroin, opium and illicit liquor from their possession in separate cases.

In the first case, the police arrested an undertrial, Sahil of Ambala, with 3.35 grams of heroin. Central Jail Superintendent Lakhbir Singh had informed the police that the contraband was recovered from Sahil’s possession when he returned after a court appearance, officials said.

In the second case, the police arrested Himmat Singh of Patiala and recovered 500 grams of opium from him. He was arrested at a checkpost near the Devinagar toll plaza in Ambala on a tip-off, the police said.

The police also arrested three persons – Anu Kant, Jaspal, alias Kala, and Abhimanyu of Saha in Ambala - and claimed to have recovered 2,800 litres of illicit liquor stored in 15 drums.

They were arrested on a tip-off that they were involved in producing illicit liquor near the grain market in Saha, the police said. They said the suspects were sent to five-day police remand by a local court.
