Former PU VC to present paper in Germany

Chandigarh, June 11

Former Panjab University Vice-Chancellor and senior scientist Kare N Pathak will give a presentation at the FH Munster University of Applied Sciences in Germany on potential applications in building quantum computers in July.

Sponsored by the German Government, Pathak will be accompanied by two of his students, Vinod Ashokan and Renu Bala, to present his paper titled ‘One-Dimensional Interacting Electron Fluids and Formation of strong Corelations’.

Their research on theoretical condense matter physics views physical properties of quantum nanowire, such as the flow of electrons. Pathak said research has a potential application in building quantum computers which work on chips. “These are high-speed computers that are still being processed and designed. We have tried to establish how several nanomaterials can be dispensed onto the substrate of a connecting nanowire to initiate a strong interaction between electrons,” said Pathak.
