Harpreet helps Crosstrain beat IDFC by 5 wkts

Harpreet Singh scored a quick-fire 36 after claiming 2/20 to help Crosstrain XI register a five-wicket win over IDFC Bank XI in a NEULIFE Corporate Cricket League match at Tau Devi Lal Stadium here on Tuesday. 

Batting first, the bankers led by Devender Singh’s 52-ball 86 scored 154/5 in 20 overs. Piyush Dewan added 35 runs to the IDFC total.

Harpreet was the most effective bowler for Crosstrain XI. He was well supported Sanjay Ahuja, Ajay Hooda and Sumit Malik, all of whom grabbed a wicket each. 

Needing to score 7.75 runs per over for victory, Crosstrain XI reached home in 17.5 with five wickets in hand. Honey hit a 21-ball 46, while Harpreet smashed 36 off 25 balls. Sanjay Ahuja contributed 23 runs to the chase.

For IDFC Bank, Randeep Singh took 2/33. 

Harpreet was adjudged Man of the Match for his all-round performance.

Bikram shines with bat

In the ongoing Summer Cup cricket tournament, Surajbhan Dreams Cricket Academy, Panchkula, beat Royal Sports Academy, Chandigarh, by eight runs at St Soldier’s School grounds on Tuesday. 

Batting first Surajbhan Academy were all out for 158 runs in 29 overs. Bikram Singh made a 75-ball 68, while Tanmay chipped in with 34 runs. 

Akshat was the wrecker-in-chief for Royal Sports Academy, claiming 4/31. Girish (2/23) and Manhar (2/30) took two wickets each.

Defending a competitive total, Surajbhan Academy bowlers struck in unison to restrict Royal Sports Academy to 150/8 in the allotted 30 overs.     

Jivesh (1/6), Karan (1/16), Gurtaj (1/20) and Tanmay (1/27) grabbed a wicket apiece for Surajbhan Academy. 

Jeevanjot made an unbeaten 41 for Royal Sports Academy. 

St Joseph’s triumph

St Joseph’s School, Chandigarh, beat Chapslee School, Shimla, by seven wickets and won the 14th Captain Amit Sagar Memorial U-19 Cricket Tournament.

Playing at St Edward’s School in Shimla on Tuesday, St Joseph’s boys bundled out Chapslee School for 71 runs in 13 overs. Bhavya Thakur (2/9), Anikait Kumar (3/8) and Anupam Pathania (3/13) shared the spoils for St Joseph’s.    

Needing to score just 3.6 runs per over for victory, St Joseph’s scampered home in  10.4 overs. Thakur contributed an unbeaten 35 to chase, while Jashpreet Singh made 22 runs.

Thakur was adjudged Man of the Match, while Ranvijay Singh was named Man of the Tournament. 

Arun steers LWCC to victory

Meanwhile, Arun Luthra smashed an unbeaten 47 to help Livewire Coaching Centre (LWCC) register a five-wicket win over PMK Group of Companies at Divya Public School, Chandigarh. 

Electing to bat, PMK were all out for 89 runs in 16.1 overs. Kuldeep Verma made 46 runs, while Ajit Kumar added an unbeaten 18 to the total. 

Jasbir Singh (3/14) and Shahid Ahmed (3/17) claimed three wickets each for LWCC. Arun Luthra (1/7), Harvinder Nain (1/14) and Vikram (1/19)  took a wicket apiece. 

In reply, LWCC were in trouble as Harvinder Nain (0), Abhishek Bhateja (4), Jaspal (1), Harshul Vats (0) and Vikram (9) departed in quick succession. 

Luthra, however, kept his cool and together with Sumit (15 not out) steered his side home in 15.4 overs.

For PMK, Piyush Mahajan bagged 3/10, while Kshitij Kumar picked 2/23.
