The body of a labourer was found at Industrial Area, Phase I, this morning. It bore injury marks on the head.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as 40-year-old Charanjit. He was found lying in the truck parking at Industrial Area. He was rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Sector 32, where the doctors declared him brought dead.

The body was shifted to the mortuary and investigation initiated. The police said the cause of death would be ascertained after the autopsy.

Ruling out any foul play, the police said the victim was a drinker. It is suspected that he fell over after getting drunk and suffered a head injury. “There was a small injury mark on the victim’s head,” said a police official.

Sources said the victim was a native of Uttar Pradesh (UP) and worked as labourer at Industrial Area. The police have lodged a DDR (daily diary report) at the Industrial Area police station.
