Ambala, June 9

The police have booked three people, including a woman and a minor, in the alleged drowning case of Abhishek in the Narwana Branch canal in Ambala City.

Abhishek, a student of Class X, allegedly drowned in the canal on Saturday. His body is yet to be recovered.

In his complaint to the police, Abhishek’s father Pawan Kumar, a resident of Ekta Vihar, Ambala Cantonment, has alleged that on June 8, his wife had received a call from a suspect (man) asking her to send Abhishek as he wanted to take him to teach swimming. Later, three children reached their home and took Abhishek with them. Around 1 pm, they got a call that Abhishek has drowned in the canal.

Pawan has alleged that neither the suspect nor Abhishek knew swimming. They had not hired any tutor to teach swimming to them.

“When we reached the spot, divers were trying to fish out Abhishek’s body, but to no avail,” he said.

The family has alleged that the two suspects (a man and a woman) take tuition in Ambala Cantonment and Abhishek was beaten up a few days ago on the tuition by the woman. He was also asked to not to come for tuition again.

Abhishek might have seen something wrong at the tuition that led to his death. A case has been registered under Sections 302 and 120-B of the IPC. The SHO of the Naggal police station said: “Efforts are being made to fish out the body and further investigation is on.”
