The local police arrested a person for physically assaulting Chandan Dhingra and his friends on gunpoint while the latter were celebrating birthday of his sister at a cafe in Morni on May 15.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Amit, a resident of Sector 19. The suspect was produced in the court, which remanded him to police custody. Three other suspects identified as Viraj, Pankaj, and Amit’s gunman Karnail Singh, who had also been booked by the police, were still at large.

In his complaint to the police, Chandan Dhingra, a resident of Sector 10, had stated that they had gone to Green Villa Cafe located on the Morni road on May 15 evening to celebrate his sister’s birthday.

Around 9.30 pm Bhati Viraj entered the cafe and sat in the adjoining hut, he added. When he complained to the cafe owner about this the latter told him that Viraj would not interfere in their party.

After the party Viraj entered into argument with Dhingra over old enmity. His friends Saurav, Madhav, Manjot and Jasdeep, tried to pacify Viraj, which enraged him and he left the place.
