Slain cop to get martyr status

Ambala, June 8

The district police have recommended a martyr status to ASI Suresh Kumar, who was shot dead in Naraingarh on June 2.

Ambala SP said on the directions of the Ambala Police Commissioner ADGP Alok Kumar Rai, the district police have sent a file recommending martyr status to the cop, who laid down his life on duty, to the Haryana DGP Manoj Yadava.

Kumar was deployed on security of Rambir, an eyewitness to the murder of the JBT teacher Session Kumar Judge. The police had announced a reward of Rs 1 lakh for providing information about the accused, but no arrest was made as yet even as the police had claimed to establish the identities of three accused.

The SP said the CIA, cyber cell and police were jointly working on the case. — TNS
