New Delhi, February 11

Around 100 orthopaedic doctors joined by patients in the national Capital today pledged for adopting a healthy lifestyle in line with Modi government’s “Khelo India” campaign.

A sports meet, which was organised today by the Delhi Orthopaedic Association (DOA) at Siri Fort Sports Complex here, saw a good participation in cricket tournament, badminton, table tennis, chess, etc.

It is important to spare time for activities like sports and exercises to maintain physical fitness, strengthen joints in the body and ward off various diseases, underlined convener of the sports meet Dr Raju Vaishya.

“We advise patients to go for sports, exercises and other forms of physical activities, but being a doctor, it is equally important for us to actively participate in sports and exercises. This is also important to inspire patients,” he observed.

DOA secretary Dr Lalit Maini stated, “We are now going to hold such an event on a regular basis. We are now also encouraging doctors in other specialties to participate in this event.”
