Two arrested for raping girl in moving SUV car

New Delhi, January 10

Two youths were arrested for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in a car offering her lift from outside Bangla Sahib Gurdwara.

In her complaint, the girl told police officials that she met the accused two days before the incident. On Saturday evening, he and his cousin offered her a lift home in Ashok Vihar and raped her on the way.

Additional CP BK Singh said one of the accused, Paramdeep Singh, was a resident of Pilibhit and was staying in Shahadara. His cousin, who was driving the car and also tried to rape the girl, was also arrested.

The girl identified the accused from his profile photos on social networking sites.

The girl said in her complaint that she had left her home at Ashok Vihar last week and had been staying at Bangla Sahib Gurdwara. Last Wednesday, she met a 21-year-old man at the gurdwara and became friends.

She even travelled with him to a friend’s place, and the man dropped her back at the gurdwara. On Saturday, he returned with his cousin and offered to take her home. She said she had refused initially, but gave in later.

They drove in an SUV car to a desolate place where Singh raped her for nearly an hour even as his cousin drove the vehicle around. They dropped her back at the gurdwara and threatened to harm her if she went to the police.

She went to the Connaught Place Police Station on Sunday, and a case under POCSO was registered.
