23 booked for attacking admn team

Yamunanagar, June 13

The police have booked 23 persons by name and several unnamed persons on the charge of attacking a team of the local administration and deterring public servants from doing their duty.

On the complaint of Deepak Sura, Executive Officer, Municipal Corporation, Yamunanagar, a case was registered against the accused under various Sections of the IPC at Sadar police station, Yamunanagar, on Tuesday night.

A team of Municipal Corporation headed by Jagadhri tehsildar-cum-duty magistrate Darshan Kumar had gone to Shadipur village to remove huts raised on MC land.

When the villagers learnt about the team’s visit, they started protesting. The team tried to persuade the villagers but they attacked members of the team and damaged an earth-moving machine.

In retaliation, the police had to use mild force to disperse the villagers.

The team had to suspend its drive for some time as the villagers blocked the Shadipur-Panjupur busy road.

They lifted the blockage after Jagadhri SDM Bharat Bhushan Kaushik warned that action would be taken if anyone tried to break the law. Later, all encroachments were removed in the SDM’s presence. — TNS
