576-kg 'ganja' seized

The Special Task Force of the Sonepat police on Tuesday nabbed one of the most wanted drug traffickers identified as Ramesh alias Mesha, originally a resident of Deban Kheri in Kaithal district, and at present residing in Sai colony at Taraori in Karnal district.

Accord to DSP Rahul Dev, after receiving specific information, the police arrested the accused from the National Highway-1 near Murthal and seized six bags, containing over 576 kg of ganja patti (chura post), and a car from his possession.

The DSP said that Ramesh was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment in a drug trafficking case. In 2015, he went on 20-day parole, but did not return.
