Chandigarh, February 13

The Haryana Government will organise a day-long workshop on apprenticeship at Gurugram on February 28 to disseminate knowledge on the topic and felicitate establishments that are appointing apprentices in significant numbers.

This will further raise the momentum for generating maximum employment opportunities through skilling of youth in both public and private sectors.

This was decided at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar to review the progress of all employment initiatives under Saksham Haryana here today.

The Chief Minister said that the government has fixed an employment target of 2 lakh youth in the state by way of jobs in government and private sectors as well as by self-employment.

Describing skill development as a major component for getting employment, he said that employment opportunities would be created with the skilling and professional training of youth through apprenticeship training.

The Chief Minister was informed that most of the initiatives under Saksham Haryana were being implemented and the rest were being evolved.

Under the Apprenticeship Act, a target has been fixed to appoint 45,000 people through skilling and professional training both in government and private sectors.
