Campaigning for the Municipal Corporation election in Yamunanagar-Jagadhri is gaining momentum.

The BJP today held a road show with its mayoral candidate Madan Chauhan and all 22 candidates for the councillors’ post in Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.

They assembled in new grain market, Jagadhri, where Haryana Assembly Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar, district general secretary Rajesh Sapra and other party leaders had come.

Addressing party candidates and party workers, Speaker Kanwar Pal Gurjar said that the BJP had undertaken all-round development of Yamunanagar district, including of the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhri.

“This district lagged behind in development under the previous regime. But after coming to power, the BJP has undertaken tremendous development work here. People are happy with the functioning of the state government. So, they have made up their mind to vote for BJP candidates,” claimed the Speaker.

On the other hand, Bajrang Garg, state president of Haryana Pradesh Veopar Mandal, held a press conference here today and claimed that Congress-supported candidate Rakesh Sharma ‘Kaka’ would register a win on the post of mayoral candidate here.

“All sections, including businessmen and industrialists, are fed up with the wrong policies of the BJP government. They want to get rid of this government. The people will bring the Congress back in power in the Assembly elections in the state and choose Congress-supported candidates for the post of mayor and as councillors,” said Garg.

Mayoral candidates and candidates for the post of councillors have started holding meetings in different wards and areas. Some candidates have started door-to-door campaigning.

BSP mayoral candidate Sandeep Kumar today filed his nomination papers. He said that he enjoys the support of people from all sections of society.

BJP mayoral candidate Madan Chauhan and Congress-supported candidate Rakesh Sharma ‘Kaka’ will file their nominations on Thursday.
