Gharaunda to have skill development centre

Gharaunda (Karnal), April 20

The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) would set up a skill development centre for youths interested in farming at Gharaunda.

Manish Kumar, MD, NSDC, along with several experts, today visited Gharaunda to explore the possibilities of developing skill development centres for various trades.

He expressed satisfaction at the working of the three skill development centres — Footwear Centre, Honda Technical Centre of Excellence and Panasonic Skill Development Centre. Scientists and experts of the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (CSSRI) and Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence for Vegetable (IICEV), Gharaunda, presented their vision for setting up skill development centre for agriculture.

Kumar said, “It is our aim to provide job opportunities to youths by nurturing their talent in various fields. We will discuss the matter with the state government tomorrow.”

Meanwhile, Gharaunda MLA Harvinder Kalyan said that the NSDC had selected Gharaunda a model skill development centre for agriculture would be established here. He said various research institutes and state government agencies would replicate it in other parts of the country.
