VP of Ambala Cantt board voted out

Surinder Tiwari was today removed from the post of vice-president of the Ambala Cantonment Board, after the board members placed a requisition for a no-confidence motion against him today.

Tiwari and eight other persons were arrested for allegedly assaulting Ajay Baweja, a councillor, on April 13.

Out of the eight elected members, seven belong to the BJP. Garib Das, a councillor fom ward 7, died recently. Surinder Tiwari is in judicial custody. All remaining six councillors, including one from the Congress, had submitted their proposals against Tiwari to chief executive officer Varun Kalia.

The meeting was attended by five members. Ajay Baweja could not make it as he was unwell. Another meeting would be called soon to select the new vice-president.
