Panipat, April 16

Congress workers, municipal councillors and members of some social organisations held a protest here on Monday to oppose the government decision to shift the city bus stand to Sewah village and delimitation of wards.

The Congress workers led by senior leader Bulle Shah gathered at the Congress Bhawan and held a protest march towards the mini-secretariat. They submitted a memorandum of demands to Naib Tehsildar Suman Lata.

Bulle Shah said that the Congress was opposed to shifting of the bus stand out of the city. He alleged that the Municipal Corporation authorities did not ask councillors before announcing delimitation of wards. The protesters said that the bus stand should not be shifted out of the city.

Councillors Sunil Verma, Brij Bhushan Dhingra and Baljeet Singh, besides Vipul Shah, Subhash Bathla and Ram Chander Kadyan also took part in the protest against the shifting of the bus stand outside the city.

Meanwhile, INLD leader and former Assembly Speaker Satbir Kadyan welcomed the government decision to shift the bus stand to Sewah village. He said it would ease traffic congestion in the city. He demanded development of Sewah village.
