The Haryana College Teachers Association has welcomed the state government’s move to release Rs 23 crore to beneficiaries of the new pension scheme.

Association general secretary RP Saini said around 1,000 lecturers working in various government-aided colleges would benefit from the decision. College lecturers appointed after 2006 had been demanding pension benefit.

Saini said medical facility for teachers in aided colleges should be on par with the benefit for their counterparts in the government colleges.

He said a charter of demands to reimburse medical expenses for certain diseases for aided college teachers had been submitted to the Education Minister and Finance Minister.
