FIR against 28 parties in stamp duty case

The Gurgaon police have registered a case against 28 parties, including 14 developers, six tehshildars, five registry clerks and four computer operators, of Manesar revenue office for alleged irregularities in executing sale deeds of properties between 2009 and 2012.

The accused allegedly manipulated revenue records to reduce the stamp duty and caused a loss of Rs 5 crore to the state exchequer. The case has been registered on the directions of a local court.

As many as 53 sale deeds were executed between 2009 and 2012 by allegedly charging 2 per cent less stamp duty. The complainant had demanded formation of a special investigation team (SIT) to investigate the matter.
