Sonepat, October 11

A motorcycle-borne man on Thursday fired six rounds at the residence of Anoop Singh Dahiya, retired Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of the Central Industrial Security Force, at Pratap Colony of Kharkhoda in Sonepat district.

He threw a 10-page letter in the house, asking the retired DSP to leave the town or get ready to face the consequences. He cautioned the retired DSP not to act like a police officer. Terrifying members of his family was suspected to be the motive behind the incident.

The movements of the motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet while driving away after firing, had been captured in a CCTV camera installed in the area. The retired DSP said he did not have an enmity with anyone.

Kharkhoda SHO Rajiv Kundu said a case had been registered and special teams constituted to identify and arrest the accused at the earliest. He said the police had taken into possession CCTV footage and the 10-page letter. — OC
