Four test positive for swine flu

Rohtak: Four members of a family in Rohtak have been tested positive for swine flu. Dr Anil Birla, Rohtak Civil Surgeon, said they were stable. Meanwhile, patients having fever, viral infection and suspected cases of swine flu have been visiting the local PGIMS and Civil Hospital for investigations and treatment. Isolation wards to lodge the patients of swine flu have been set up at PGIMS as well as the Civil Hospital. TNS

CM in Gannaur today

Sonepat: Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar would perform the ‘bhumi pujan’ ceremony for the prestigious rail coach renovation unit at HSIIDC complex near Gannaur in the district on January 11. Sonepat MP Ramesh Kaushik said the CM would also launch a number of projects and address a public meeting on the premises. It was a reply to those who were spreading false rumours about the shifting of the railway unit to some other state. OC

Bar Association elections on April 5

Sonepat: Bijender Ahlawat, Chairman of the Punjab and Haryana High Court Bar Council, said on Thursday that the elections of the District Bar Associations in the state would be organised on April 5. This announcement was made during a meeting of the members of the District Bar Association. "It will remain my priority to work for the welfare of the advocates," he said and added that the pension scheme would also be reformed. On the occasion, as many as 16 senior advocates practicing for the past 50 years were honoured by him. Earlier, District Bar Association president Rajinder Singh Dahiya welcomed Ahlawat. TNS

Youth's naked body found in bushes

Rewari: The police on Thursday recovered the naked body of a youth lying in bushes in Sector-5 here. The body, which is yet to be identified, bore multiple-injury marks. The police started investigation after registering a case of murder against unidentified persons. Some passersby spotted the body and informed the police which rushed to the spot and kept the body at the spot for some time for identification, but to no avail. Later, the police sent the body to Civil Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police said efforts were being made to identify the body. TNS

Tea for Gurugram cops on night duty 

Gurugram: The Gurugram police have decided to provide tea and biscuits to police on night duty in view of the cold weather conditions. The police will bear the expenses from the police welfare fund. A first-ever move in the state is being spearheaded by KK Rao, Commissioner of Police. Two movable snack vans will be used for the purpose. “Though all police personnel on night patrol duty have already been provided jackets and gloves, many have fallen sick due to cold. As an immediate respite, we have decided to provide them hot tea at least twice at night,” said Rao. TNS

Man held for raping 9-yr-old neighbour

Gurugram: The police have arrested a man for allegedly raping his nine-year-old neighbour. The accused, Nageshwar Babu (47), is a native of Andhra Pradesh. He works as a mechanical design engineer in a private company here. The police said the accused would lure the girl to his room to see cartoons and then allegedly raped her. On Wednesday night, when she went to a common toilet, he dragged her to his room thinking that her parents were asleep. It was then the victim’s mother caught him. TNS

Five injured inbus-truck collision

Yamunanagar: Five persons were injured in a head-on collision between a bus of Haryana Roadways and a truck near Munda Khera village on Jagadhri-Ponta Sahib National Highway on Thursday. There were 50 passengers in the bus. tns
