Man accused of burning FM’s house found dead

Rohtak, December 6

Bijender, 42, of Kheri Sadh village in the district, who was an accused in the case of the burning of the house of Finance Minister Capt Abhimanyu during the violent agitation for the grant of reservation to Jats in February 2016, was found murdered in the Kathmandi area of the town in the wee hours on Thursday.

Bijender had to appear before the CBI court in Panchkula today in connection with the case, and had left his house last evening to catch a train to reach there. However, his body was found lying in a pool of blood near the Kathmandi flyover at some distance from the local railway station in the wee hours.

The body reportedly remained lying unattended owing to some dispute over the police station jurisdiction. Finally, City Police Station officials got the body identified and sent it for post-mortem. SHO (City) Jagbir Singh said a case had been registered against unknown persons regarding the matter and it seemed that somebody had badly hit Bijender with a stone. The police seized a blood-stained stone from the scene of the crime.

Bijender’s paternal uncle Ram Kishan told the police that they did not have enmity with anyone and had no clue who could have murdered Bijender so brutally. — TNS
