Sonepat, February 13

Urban Local Bodies Minister Kavita Jain has said Sonepat district has become a priority area in the National Capital Region (NCR) for various developmental activities after Gurugram and Faridabad.

Talking to mediapersons after laying the foundation stone of a new building of the Sonepat Municipal Corporation here today, the minister said that the state government wanted to develop Sonepat as shortage of land was being experienced in Gurugram and Faridabad in the NCR.

“The new building will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore in an area of five-and-a-half acres,” the minister said and added that its construction work would be completed within 21 months.

The minister claimed that the building would one of the best among the 5-6 top official buildings in the country. “The MC office will be digitalised and all facilities will be available under one roof,” she said.

To a question, the minister chided the INLD for announcing to oppose the BJP’s Jind rally and alleged that the INLD was setting an example of ‘cheap’ politics. The INLD had already lost its political ground in the state and now, it was trying to misled people by one way or the other, she added.

Krishna Gahlaut, Chairperson, National Council for State Agriculture Marketing Board, was among others present on the occasion.
