RTA team attacked in Yamunanagar, two hurt

A team of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) was attacked by 10 persons when it was checking vehicles at a tax-collection point in the district’s Kalanaur village on Wednesday night. Two RTA employees, Vikash Yadav and Ankush, were injured in the incident.

Transport Sub-Inspector Vikash Yadav, in his complaint to the police authorities, said the team led by Sunita Gupta, Assistant Secretary, RTA, had challaned and impounded a tipper bearing a registration number of Uttar Pradesh in the afternoon.

About 8.30 pm, 10 car-borne persons reached the tax-collection point and attacked Yadav and Ankush with sticks. They also threatened to kill them.

A case was registered against unidentified persons at the Kalanaur police post on Thursday and investigation has been started.
