Staff car for non-official chairpersons of boards

Chandigarh, January 12

The state government has amended the existing standard terms and conditions for providing staff cars to non-officials appointed as chairpersons in boards and corporations.

The new clause states, “A staff car equivalent to the car entitled to Additional Chief Secretary along with driver may be placed at the disposal of the chairman and deputy or vice-chairman for official journey at the headquarters and also for outside official journeys. Provided that a non-official chairman and deputy or vice-chairman may perform journey on official duty at headquarters up to a total limit of 5,000 km in a calendar month and when such journeys are either in excess of 1,000 km at headquarters or the total journeys both at headquarters and outside headquarters exceed 5,000 km in a calendar month, the excess journey would be treated as private journey.”

The chairman and deputy or vice-chairmen could utilise their private vehicles as per their option with the reimbursement of Rs 18 per km all inclusive subject to mileage ceiling.
