State wrestlers continue to dominate national girls c’ship

Haryana girls dominated the second day’s bouts of the five-day 64th National School Girls Wrestling Championship, being organised at Geetanjali Senior Secondary School, Guru Sadan, Badwasni, in the district.

According to Jagbir Malik, Assistant Education Officer, in the U-19 category, Jyoti of Haryana won the gold by defeating Arshdeep of Punjab in 76-kg weight category final. In 62-kg category final, Pushpa of Haryana defeated Vaishnavi of Uttar Pradesh and Unnati of Delhi clinched the gold by defeating Sangeeta of Haryana in 53-kg weight category.

Similarly, in U-17 bouts, Ishita of CBSE defeated Kalyani of Maharashtra in 46-kg category. Priyanka of Haryana clinched the gold in 61-kg weight category by defeating S Jayanti of Maharastra and in 69-kg category, Priya of Haryana defeated Ravita of CBSE.

Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar visited the site on Thursday and encouraged the young wrestlers to play whole-heartedly and with sportsman spirit.
