Tribune News Service

Karnal, April 16

About 110 computer operators employed on contract under the DITS started an indefinite strike in support of their demands on Sunday. The strike affected work at e-Disha centres at the tehsil level.

The computer operators are staging a dharna in Panchkula. Their demands include regularisation of jobs, merger with the Revenue Department and cancellation of FIRs registered against them in Karnal two months ago.

Utkarsh Azad, district president, said the strike would continue till their demands were fulfilled. The strike affected work at the tehsil level and e-Disha centres.

“I visited an e-Disha centre for vehicle registration, but came to know that no computer related work is being done due to strike,” said Baljinder Singh.

Narinder Kumar Malik, SDM, efforts were being made for an alternative system to avoid inconvenience to people.
