Teen gets 7-yr jail for raping minor

The court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Shashi Bala Chauhan sentenced a teenager to seven years of imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Kachroli village of the district. The court has also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on him.

The court has ordered the accused to give Rs15,000 to the victim and deposit Rs5,000 with the legal cell, said Advocate Anil Bhan, counsel of the victim.

The incident took place on July 13, 2016. A 13-year-old girl of Kachroli village, in her complaint to the police, alleged that she had gone to bring water from the tubewell in the street when a boy kidnapped her. He took her to his house and raped her, she alleged.

The complaint was lodged at women police station under various sections of the IPC and Section 4 of the POCSO Act.
