Ambala, February 13

Two more juveniles who had escaped from an observation home here were nabbed by a joint team of the Ambala CIA and Panipat CIA today. They were nabbed from Panipat. Of the nine escapees, three had been traced by the police and teams were on a hunt to trace the remaining six.

Confirming the development, SP Abhishek Jorwal said, “Two more juveniles have been nabbed by the Panipat police. All nine had boarded a train from Ambala Cantonment and reached Panipat. They arranged money and took different routes. The plan of escape was hatched by two or three juveniles.”

The nabbed juveniles disclosed that a couple of them had planned to go to Uttarakhand, take rented accommodation and settle there. Sources said a nabbed juvenile had disclosed that they escaped around midnight while the observation staff had claimed that they were present till 1:15 am.

Officials sensed a well-planned conspiracy in the incident, but were not saying anything on record. They were waiting for the police investigation report. According to the sources, they took an autorickshaw to reach Ambala Cantonment and gave their shoes to the driver in lieu of fare.

Meanwhile, the new superintendent of the observation home took charge after DG Prisons suspended the superintendent and three others for negligence. The DG suspended superintendent Bhupinder Singh, head warder Naibdeen and warders Suresh Kumar and Krishan Kumar.
