Jhajjar, October 11

A 45-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered by an unidentified person at her house in the district’s Bilochpura village on Wednesday.

Her half-naked body was found lying on the floor. The hands were tied with a piece of cloth, while the head was hit by a hard object.

Superintendent of Police Pankaj Nain formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by ASP Shashank Sawan to probe the case. He announced a cash reward of Rs1 lakh for the person who will give information about the accused.

The victim’s husband said, “The crime was perpetrated when my wife was alone in the house. When my elder son, who runs a shop in Kasni village, returned home in the evening, he found the main gate bolted from inside. He didn’t get a response for a long time.”

His son jumped the fence to enter the house and found his mother’s body lying on the floor. He called villagers, who later informed the police. A wooden stick was recovered from the spot.

“We have no enmity with anyone in the village,” the victim’s husband said.

Sources said a team of forensic experts visited the crime spot and took blood samples. The victim’s body was handed over to her family after the post-mortem examination.

“The victim’s medical report is yet to come, but circumstantial evidence indicates rape. Maybe, a person from Bilochpura village is involved in the crime as a similar incident was reported a few months ago. The accused had applied the same modus operandi. That case is still unsolved,” the SP said.

On May 15, a married woman of the same village was allegedly raped and murdered when she was alone at home. The accused is absconding.

The SP said village men would be asked to undergo a DNA test, if needed.
